I had so much fun reading this month! Whereas usually I’m lucky to get just a few five-star reads, this month I had several, as well as a re-read of a favorite from the beginning of the year. I’m also catching up with my “unofficial goal” for the year, which is nice.
So here’s my July 2022 retrospective, featuring statistics, goals check-in, and more!

New Books on my Shelf
After my ridiculous book-buying spree from earlier this year, I massively cooled off with new books. But in July I did buy myself some nice things (with a check I got for appearing as a witness in a mock trial for law students—I was convicted of manslaughter, alas). Anyhoo, here are my new books!
— The Hobbit & The Lord of the Rings, illustrated editions box set by J.R.R. Tolkien; fantasy
— The Silmarillion, illustrated edition by J.R. R. Tolkien; fantasy
— The Bone Shard Emperor by Andrea Stewart; fantasy
— Where the Dead Lie by C.S. Harris; historical mystery
— Why Kill the Innocent by C.S. Harris; historical mystery
— The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas; horror
— Four Treasures of the Sky by Jenny Tinghui Zhang; historical fiction
— The First Sister by Linden A. Lewis; science fiction
— Barbarian Lover by Ruby Dixon; sci-fi romance
— An Heiress’s Guide to Deception and Desire by Manda Collins; historical romance
— You Deserve Each Other by Sarah Hogle; contemporary romance
— Plain Bad Heroines by Emily M. Danforth; horror
And that was July 2022!
