Oh boy. December was…uh. December was A Lot, but in like a really good way! I went through like three distinct “reading moods” and honestly it feels like the last 31 days were twice as long as any other month.
I started off by reading my regular mix of random genres, BUT THEN I fell into a deep dark hole of blue-skinned barbarian alien porn (no regrets). And then, when I finally tired of alien dick, I moved on to Serious Literary Fiction.
Then the ~highly questionable~ Bridgerton show happened and I lost interest in both reading and being online. The Discourse was too much for me, even with all possible things muted.
Also, there was that huge new Stardew Valley update, so that is very time consuming.
Anyhoo. Yay, December’s over. Let’s talk about the books!

ALL of the December books!
Here’s a nifty table of all the books I read this month. There were…a lot. (Again: blame the sexy barbarian porn.)
So…it’s 2021 now…cool.
Looking forward, I’m not making many goals or resolutions. Because I’m a terminally eclectic reader, there’s a good chance that I might make a goal (say: read 15 books by women in translation), only to develop a mild obsession with 1980s cowboy romances that lasts for three months. My brain is a rich and ever-evolving tapestry.
That being said, I would like to finally follow along with the Tournament of Books. I’ve wanted to since 2015, but my squirrel brain always forgets about it until the tournament is nearly over. Not this year, 2021. Not this year.
I would also like to get a bit better at completing a short write-up of every book I read on Goodreads. All of them! This includes my “trashy” favorites, such as the blue-skinned barbarian alien romances I’m currently inhaling like popcorn between the hours of 10 p.m. and 3 a.m. (Don’t @ me folks, these hunky bois have anatomically superior dicks and they’re gooey cinnamon rolls, each and every one of them. Gods bless Ruby Dixon.)
So, onward! If you’re my follower on this site for the next 12 months, I assume you’ll be subjected to my thoughts on a wide variety of topics: emotionally-repressed billionaire romances; genderqueer space princesses; navel-gazey exposés on the human condition. Everything goes! Rich. And. Ever-Evolving. Tapestry.
Happy 2021!

Same, girl, same! I read up to Barbarian’s Hope and am obsessed. I’ll likely finish the series later this month.
